All other weeks are considered full weeks regardless of holidays. Credit will also be given when school is cancelled for snow.
** The KIDS Center is DES certified-any person enrolling their child in the center may apply for assistance through DES. If your family qualifies, this may help offset tuition expenses.
*Students who have children enrolled at the KIDS Center may be eligible to receive tuition discounts. Students who have children enrolled at the KIDS Center must be on campus at all times their child is in the center. With the exception of class related activities and field trips.
Sick Days:

When your child is absent for any reason after all “sick days” have been used, you will be charge the full daily rate for any days missed.
Enrollment and Dis-enrollment:
The KIDS Center is open to children ages six weeks to five years of age.
Pre-registration will confirm your spot at our center. Priority will be given as follows:
- All returning enrolled children. (Subject of capacity)
- All siblings of currently enrolled children. (Subject to capacity)
- New children of Flag High students.
- New children of Flag High Staff.
- New children of FUSD employees.
- Community.
*Please note that all newly registered siblings of currently enrolled children will have priority placement at the time of registration.
*After pre-registration, enrollment will be filled at the discretion of the director.
*Upon enrollment we will work to provide your child with the best care possible. However, at any time we feel enrollment presents a hardship to our program; we reserve the right to ask you to find alternative daycare.
Dis-enrollment will be considered for the following reasons:
*If account balance is not kept current.
*If your child has five consecutive days of non-attendance without prior
Notification or having made prior arrangements.
*Final decisions will be made at the discretion of the director.
Discipline Policy:
It is The KIDS Center’s goal to guide each child’s behavior based on an understanding of the individual child’s needs, and stages of development. We shall promote appropriate social behavior, self-control, and respect for the rights of others. We shall ensure that behavior management and discipline practices are fair, reasonable, consistent, and related to the child’s behavior. Staff shall not at any time administer cruel, unusual, frightening, or humiliating discipline. We will instead, offer positive re-direction, positive re-enforcement, problem solving and communication skills. If all these methods fail, a “time-out” may be given for one minute per year of child’s age. In cases where we feel it necessary to inform the parent of a specific behavior, and incident report will be sent home. This allows the parent the opportunity to help us solve more difficult issues, while making a team effort to keep The KIDS Center a fun, safe place for everyone.
Biting Policies:
IF YOUR CHILD IS BITTEN-
Child Development research indicates that approximately 50% of all children enrolled in childcare centers will be bitten. Toddlers especially will use biting as a form of communication. The KIDS Center will strive to minimize biting incidents. However, it is highly likely that your child may be bitten at some time. If this should occur, we will do our best to comfort your child and care for his or her needs immediately. We will inform you of the incident. We will also inform the parents of the biter and work with them and their child to change this behavior.
IF YOUR CHILD BITES ANOTHER CHILD-
Biting is very serious and unacceptable. If your child bites, The KIDS Center staff will work with you to develop a plan to correct the problem. This plan may include “time-outs”, separation from activities, and focused supervision. If biting becomes more aggressive, breaks skin, does not lesson within a reasonable period of time, or diverts an inordinate amount of staff time away from the other children, The KIDS Center may have to temporarily dis-enroll your child until the biting diminishes.
Diapering and Toilet Training Procedures:
Parents with children in diapers are responsible for bringing all items necessary for diapering. Parents are also responsible for keeping these items replenished as needed. Please provide diapers, wipes, and any needed ointments or powders. All ointments and powders must be accompanied by a signed and dated authorization form. When you feel your child is ready to begin potty training, we will be happy to assist you in the process. Our expectations are to have all children successfully using the potty by age 3, as all children need to be potty trained before entering the Preschool Room.
*Please speak to the director or your child’s teacher for any individual questions.
Medical Emergency Procedures:
The KIDS Center is required by state licensing guidelines to have Emergency Medical Release forms signed and on file for each child. In the event of an emergency we will administer first aid and call 911 when needed. We will also make every effort to contact you. In the event that we are unable to contact you, it is very important to have the Medical Release form signed in order to get medical care for your child. It is also very important that the names, phone numbers, and addresses on this form are kept current. This includes the names and numbers of other people with permission to transport and oversee proper medical care for your child.
*We must have phone numbers where parents can be reached at all times. It is your responsibility to ensure these numbers are kept up to date so that we can reach you as quickly as possible in the event of an emergency.
If a minor accident occurs, we will administer first aid, and if necessary make every effort to contact you, or the emergency contact person. If your child is involved in a minor accident and receives first aid from a staff member, you will receive an “Accident Form” (ouch report). An accident form is a detailed description of what occurred and what first aid was administered.
Snacks and Meals Schedules:
The KIDS Center will provide snacks twice a day for the Preschool room and the Toddler room.
*Morning snack will be served at 9:00 am
*Afternoon snack will be served at 2:00 pm
Snack menus will be posted in your child’s classroom.
Lunch:
Lunch is not provided by the center. Please plan to pack your child a nutritious lunch including a drink every day.
*Your child’s lunch needs to be sent “ready to eat” as the center is unable to warm up lunches. When packing lunch, please keep in mind that there will be absolutely no warm-ups. If you want your child to have a hot lunch you need to prepare it and put it in a thermos.
Lunch is served in the Preschool and Toddler rooms at 11:30. The toddler room may eat earlier depending on the needs of the children.
*If you plan to arrive after lunch or snacks have been served, please make sure your child has eaten as to not interrupt classroom schedule.
*Please feed your child breakfast before arriving at school, on the rare occasion that your are unable to feed them breakfast before you come we will sit them down at the table to feed themselves only if it is before 7:45 am. After this time it will disrupt the classroom scheduled activities. Please keep in mind that morning snack is served at 9:00 am. NO BREAKFAST AFTER 7:45 AM.
**Due to the size of the toddler class all food provided by parents must be finger food only. We do not have enough personnel to spoon feed every child in the class in a timely manner. Please send food your child can eat without assistance.
*Please be aware that the infant room only has a microwave to heat food. The toddler room and preschool room cannot heat food. If you want your child to have a hot meal please warm it at home and put it into a thermos.
Field Trips:
Due to our state regulations we will no longer be able to take field trips off campus.
Sign In and Out Policies:
All parents and / or guardians are required by law to sign their children in and out of daycare on a daily basis. Signing your child in and out will ensure that if and emergency occurs, we will know exactly how many children to account for. State guidelines require full signatures. Please sign in and out everyday full name, no initials please.
*The KIDS Center will only release your child to individuals authorized on their “Blue Card”. To avoid any confusion, we ask that those individuals bring proper I.D. when picking up your child. Children are never allowed to leave the center at anytime without a parent / guardian authorization.
*Children cannot be released to anyone under the age of 18 (according to State Guidelines). Sorry, no exceptions.
Grievance Procedures:
As our clients, we hope that you are always happy with the care given to your child. However, if at some point you have questions or concerns about your child’s care, we hope you come to us immediately. Concerns can be voiced to your child’s teacher or to the center director.
Inspection Reports:
Inspection reports are available upon request. Please see center director.

Illness Procedures and Health Policies:
**Please use your best judgment and do not send your child to school if the following conditions exist:
*If your child is running a fever over 100.0. (Please do not give your child Tylenol or any other fever reducer to keep the fever down so they can attend school. A masked fever can still infect others.)
*If your child has a continuous runny nose, and /or green (infectious) drainage from the nose, please keep them at home. It is impossible to stop the spread of germs when a child’s nose is continuously running.
*If your child has a cough which causes them pain, stress, discomfort, or produces excessive phlegm, please keep them at home.
*If your child receives medication from the doctor for any infection ** (viral or bacterial) they need to stay home for at least 24 hours.
*If your child is suffering from diarrhea, vomiting, or other flu like symptoms, they need to be kept home until they are symptom free for at least 24 hours.
If your child develops a temperature of 100.0 or higher, or any of the above listed symptoms of illness while at the KIDS Center, the staff will isolate the child from other children and parents will be notified. You will need to make arrangements for your child to be picked up, or pick your child up within 30 minutes from the time of notification. We realize that these guidelines are often hard to adhere to, however we are required by state guidelines to have sick children removed from the center as soon as possible.
*State guidelines require us to isolate sick children from group until they can be picked up.
*As many of us have discovered, no two doctors have the same answer when it comes to deciding when a child is or isn’t contagious, so this leaves us with the responsibility of setting reasonable, consistent guidelines.
Signs and Symptoms of Illness:
Please watch your child carefully for signs of illness. Please do not send your child to daycare if he or she has any of the following symptoms:
Diarrhea Fever of more than 100.00
Vomiting Wheezing
Severe Coughing Undiagnosed Rash
Croupy Cough Pain when swallowing
Constant Coughing Continuous runny or green drainage from nose.

Medication:
The KIDS Center follows the state regulations and does not administer ANY medication prescription or non-prescription.
Immunizations:
State law requires that daycare centers maintain records of immunizations for each child enrolled. Please be prepared to provide this information about your child, as well as keep your child current with all age appropriate vaccinations.
The KIDS Center Philosophy on Childcare:
At the KIDS Center we believe that childcare is one of the most valuable services needed in today’s society. We believe that childcare centers should be composed of a team where teachers, children, and parents work together to create the optimal learning environment. We encourage cooperative learning and age appropriate activities. We strive to provide the benefits of a loving, safe environment. We encourage good communication between teachers and parents. It is our belief that these are the formative years in a child’s life and it is our job to help children grow and develop in a loving, caring, and stimulating environment. Our staff strives to provide experience that will encourage the development of your child’s positive self-concept. We believe that there are many styles of learning. We believe children learn by using all of their senses, repetition, physical and mental exercises, and being allowed choices. Our staff strives to develop and implement plans and activities that take individual ages, needs, and levels into consideration.
*Classroom schedules and Calendar of activities are posted in your child’s classroom for reference. Please see your child’s teacher regarding any questions or ideas.
